the nitty gritty. Personality: To strangers, Teddy is quiet and rather introverted. Years of loss - of friends, family, and loved ones - has made him less willing to connect to people, and more fond of his research and his work over anyone else. When encountered on the street, he seems aloof and lost in thought, always reading, sketching, or taking notes. His companion is his laptop, which connects him back to the database at the clinic, and also to the other healers should anything happen that they're unprepared for. To the people who are close to him, he's boyish, filled with sheepish smiles, youthful charm, and an easily excitable demeanor. He loves new toys when it comes to his work, such as new scanning equipment, his most adored shrink ray, and his random devices for mapping genetic material, potion equipment, and the like. There's some things he doesn't even know how to use, but he got them anyway, because they're just awesome. And then there's Star Wars. The only thing that Teddy will kill anyone over is removing his first edition Darth Vader helmet from the wrappings. He's a geek at heart, easily taken by Star Wars, anime, and even old style Dungeons and Dragons. It got him through his school years. With patients, and with people in need, he's giving. He has a soft spot for creatures, and will give the shirt off of his back and the flesh off his body. There are no limits he won't go to help someone who's been injured, and he often dismisses his own selflessness by claiming it was "for the sake of science" and that "much was learned" in the process. And while he does learn from everything he does, the truth of the matter is that if he could, he would give up everything, (yes, even the Darth Vader helmet), if it meant he could cure every patient who crossed his path. He's a workaholic, as it keeps him from needing to get close to people. He can go for shifts from 8 to 24 hours without a break, oftentimes pausing only to inhale a quick a meal or not eat at all. If he's not treating patients, he's immersed filling out records, studying, or sitting in his office and sorting through files, trying to find trends. When he's not with patients, he can be found at local cafes with his laptop and his coffee, in his office where he has a perfect view onto the street, or in the lab, doing some experiment or another with his equipment. Personal History: Born to Nymphadora Tonks and Remus Lupin, Teddy never got a chance to really meet his parents. Sure, he saw them in lots of pictures, but that was the extent of it. He was a quick talker, and when the hat tried to place in him in Slytherin, he talked his way out of it easier than he ever talked his way into someone's pants. Through out school, he was a mediocre student, barely smudging his way through classes, partying most of the time. He wasn't the normal Gryffindor boy. He had no desire to play Quidditch, didn't feel particularly heroic, and found himself oftentimes spending as much of his free time with members from other houses. It earned him some hazing, but he could have given a shit less. His school years were simply one drug filled, drink filled party to the next. By the time seventh year rolled around, everyone was just surprised he showed up to his N.E.W.Ts sober, much less graduated. But his wild ways were tamed shortly after leaving school. With the little money he had, he got a flat out in England and started working a desk job at Mungo's, which he most likely only got thanks to his name. Victoire Weasley, a distant cousin, had always been a good friend of his, and he still accompanied her and her family to and from the Hogwarts train to drop her off, since he wasn't able to ride in the carts with her anymore. And then one day, that casual interest turned to something more. He's not sure why he did it. But he kissed her. And she kissed him back. And that was the start of Teddy's first love. They agreed that when she got out of school, the two would move in together, and try to start a life. She helped him settle down and even out, but all of that came to a halt. When Teddy turned 20, shortly after her graduation, she disappeared, leaving him alone. They spent months looking, but in the end, Teddy had to give up, and couldn't even bring himself to go to her funeral. Instead, he poured himself into work, begging one of the Mediwizards to let him intern there - he needed to find a calling, and needed to live outside of himself. The Mediwizard, after many weeks of pleads, finally consented, and Teddy began his apprenticeship. It was clear almost immediately that Healing was part of his blood. He pursued his new education passionately and hungrily, learning everything he could, and it wasn't long before the young man got noticed, as do many who find their calling in life. Or at least the one thing that distracts them from the reality they can't stand to face. He was offered an internship in working with cursed creatures at a research facility, and he chose that to finish off his education. He loved the research - the hard facts and the data. For once, Teddy didn't just pass, but he excelled, and when he graduated at the age of 24, he was offered an immediate job on the research team he had been working with. Teddy became a specialist, and he spent years traveling the world, studying dark curses, war wounds, werewolves, creatures, and other oddities, as well as new and upcoming forms of treatments. In his mid 20's, he began to research a theory on magical surgery, and after presenting it to the ministry, the shockingly young scientist received a hefty grant and permission to assemble his own team. Years were spent hexing each other, delving hands into backs, working with spells and damage control. At the age of 27, he himself wound up getting his own intern by the name of Scorpius Malfoy, a recent graduate from school and a boy he recognized as being the friend of his deceased "little brother" Albus. Scorpius was brilliant in his own right, and the quite youth quickly became one of Teddy's favorites. Despite their separation in years, at the age of 29, the two became lovers. At 30, Teddy had completed his research into the surgical spells he had been working on and produced the results in a standardized form that could be used across the board. The work of he and his team was hailed as a great breakthrough, and soon, they had made enough money off of their results to open up their own facility known as Sanctuary with Teddy involved. He was able to pursue his passions in treating creatures infected with Dark diseases, especially the werewolf gene, as it had been what he felt had taken his father away. Though this happiness didn't last long. Having lost much of his family, and Victoire, Teddy should have realized that good things never last. At the age of 34, when Scorpius was barely in his mid 20's, the young blond vanished from their home, leaving Teddy alone. Scorpius hadn't taken any of his things. The items were still left behind, and it was obvious that he hadn't run off. Almost a year of his life was dedicated to trying to hunt down what had happened, or where he had gone, but when it was unsuccessful, he realized that just like Victoire, there was no one coming back. Teddy moved from the flat above Sanctuary that he had been living in to the basement. He paid others to move all of Scorpius' things out, ordering them to "do what they would" with it. He couldn't bring himself to keep anything, and he couldn't bring himself to order it trashed. He also couldn't bring himself to be with anyone else again. He spent his years living mostly in his lab, throwing himself into his work, and researching everything he could get his hands on. At the age of 45, there was a fire that burned down a majority of Sanctuary, and much of his research that he hadn't transfered to the database. Unsure what to do, feeling exhausted, he wasn't sure what to do at that point, until he was approached by a young man in an odd uniform. He was offered a job as head of another facility, in a "new, exotic location", with "free ability to research, no government restrictions, no ethical demands, no questions asked", and he took it. That's when Teddy was taken to New Europe to be the head of Sanctuary there. He has spent the past few months training in what he needs to know to properly run it, as well as work in the branding department and take it over from the Healer there. He has been bonded to Gellert Grindelwald. Physical: Teddy has always wanted to be what he's not - the pureblood, the one who's accepted, who's perfect. Perhaps he always thought it could somehow make people stay. There was always Vicky, or Lily, or some of his friends there to keep him settled and remind him that he didn't need to act that way, but after Vicky disappeared, he got more clammed up about it. He likes his designer clothes and robes, and anything that looks expensive. You'll never catch him in anything but slacks and button up shirts, even if they are a little scuffed and bloody from work. His shoes are always perfectly polished loafers, and as his income increased, so did his tastes. He wasn't exactly poor, thanks to the left over money from the Black side, as well as the reparations the war paid to him, but when he was in his late 20's, his normal outfit often cost more than what most people paid for rent in a month. He's slender, healthy looking, with the sort of body one doesn't get from exercise or dieting, but the sort of body one gets from being aware of what they eat, and often not even thinking on the whole matter. He's a vegetarian bordering on vegan, and spends most of his day running around, healing people, and has become such a workaholic over the years that he forgets about things like breaks. At the start of the day, he's an attractive, well put together 24 year old, but by the end, his impeccable clothing has been wrinkled, and his perfect appearance is often a bit shabby.
